UP2YOU at head'25: a workshop to rethink university between digital transition, sustainability and active citizenship

What does it really mean to innovate higher education in the era of the digital and ecological twin transition? This was the question that the workshop ‘Navigating Twin Transitions and Enhancing Civic Engagement in Higher Education’, organised by Stefania Capogna and Maria Chiara De Angelis of Link Campus University, sought to answer as part of the international conference HEAD’25 – Higher Education Advances, held on 17 June 2025 in Valencia, at the Universitat Politècnica de València.

It was an intense afternoon full of insights and comparisons between academics, education experts and professionals from all over Europe, united by the common goal of building a more sustainable, participatory and integrated education.

The workshop was an opportunity to present the ongoing results of the Erasmus+ UP2YOU project and was divided into two thematic tracks, each one dedicated to a key perspective of educational transformation:

  • Track 1 – Sustainable Education in the Digital Age: AI-Driven Innovations, Equity and Collaborative Learning Strategies
A journey through international experiences on the use of Artificial Intelligence, digital feedback and collaborative strategies to make education more equitable, accessible and student-centred.
  • Track 2 – Empowering the Twin Transition in VET and Higher Education: Quality Assurance, Micro-Credentials, and Participatory Curriculum Innovation
A focus on the contribution of higher education and vocational training to the twin transition (digital and green), through concrete tools such as micro-credentials, quality assurance and participatory curriculum innovation.

We would like to thank all the participants for their active involvement and for the quality of the contributions offered, which made the workshop a stimulating moment of discussion and co-design, aimed at imagining new educational scenarios capable of responding to the complex challenges of our time.

Special thanks also go to the organising committee of HEAD’25, which for the third year running welcomed us and gave us the opportunity to contribute to this important space for international dialogue on innovation in higher education.
