Call for papers – 10th SISEC Conference: session 8.10 on universities and contemporary “disorder”

The Italian Society of Economic Sociology (SISEC) has opened the call for papers for its 10th Conference, dedicated to “Conflict and cooperation in contemporary economic, social and political transformations”, scheduled to take place in Florence from 28 to 31 January 2026.
Within the programme, Federica De Luca and Stefania Capogna are coordinating session 8.10 Universities and contemporary disorder. Techno-social conflicts, territorial cooperation and new conventions between economy and society.
The session invites contributions that explore, among others, the following thematic areas:
- Third mission and civic engagement: conflicts and cooperation that structure practices, actors and results.
- New institutional conventions: the role of universities in the territories and in the framework of supranational policies for higher education.
- Triple transition (digital, ecological, demographic): challenges and opportunities in different local contexts.
- Economic-social hybridisation: effects on university governance and stakeholder relations.
- Innovation governance: strategies, tools and collaborative networks that guide transformation processes.
- Research and innovation evaluation: participatory approaches and metrics capable of capturing the complexity of social and territorial impacts.
- Organisational transformations: universities as complex structures in evolution.
How to participate
- Abstract submission: between 2,500 and 5,000 characters (including spaces).
- Deadline: 12 November 2025.
