Navigating Twin Transitions: an international workshop at HEAD'25 on the twin transition and civic engagement in higher education

On 17 June 2025, as part of the HEAD’25 – Higher Education Advances international conference, the DITES Research Centre has once again organised a discussion forum dedicated to changes affecting universities at the Universitat Politècnica de València. The workshop event, entitled “Navigating Twin Transitions and Enhancing Civic Engagement in Higher Education”, provides an opportunity to present the final results of the Erasmus+ project UP2YOU Upgrading university pathways to promote bottom-up, sustainable, and inclusive development.

The workshop, organised by Stefania Capogna and Maria Chiara De Angelis, is divided into two thematic sessions:

  • Session I – Sustainable Education in the Digital Age: AI-Driven Innovations, Equity and Collaborative Learning Strategies
  • Session II – Empowering the Twin Transition in VET and Higher Education: Quality Assurance, Micro-Credentials, and Participatory Curriculum Innovation

The initiative will provide a space for international discussion between academics, professionals, and representatives of civil society on the transformative role of education in driving the digital and green transition. Contributions will range from the integration of artificial intelligence in teaching to the use of micro-credentials to active student participation and innovation in university curricula.

A shared reflection on how to rethink educational models to respond to global challenges in a sustainable, equitable, and participatory manner.
